New Record Of Summer Grain Output |

Stimulated by the increasing of grain subsidy and with the plentiful rainfall,the summer grain output of XJ this year will top 6.5 bln kg, a new record high in its history. In order to encourage farmers to plant grain, since 2008, XJ increased the grain comprehensive subsidy standard by big margin. The subsidy standard in the three prefectures in South XJ reaches 97 yuan per mu area. As the main grain production area in XJ, Aksu Prefecture actively answers the call of the State's policy. This year, the wheat planting area in Aksu increases by 310,000 mu compared with last year, and the output is expected to increase by some 150,000 tons. Now the summer grain harvesting has started. Influenced by the climate difference in South and North XJ, presently the wheat in North XJ is under filling period, and farmers are enhancing the field management guided by the agro technicians. Tacheng is also a main grain production area in XJ. With the grain subsidy, farmers there also plant nearly 420,000 mu more wheat this year. Presently the wheat grows well and the output is to top 550,000 tons, the best record in recent ten years. Statistics from XJ Grain Bureau shows that, this year, XJ's summer grain planting area surpasses 20 mln mu, largest planting area in its history. |

Cooperation Memorandum Between XJ & Bank OF China |

On the evening of May 25th, XJ People's Government signed cooperation memorandum with Bank of China.In the following 3 years, Bank of China will provide 60 bln yuan of intent financing to XJ. Wang Lequan, member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, secretary of CPC XJ Committee attended the talk and the signing ceremony. Nuer Baikeli, deputy secretary of CPC XJ Committee, chairman of XJ Uygur Autonomous Region presided the talk. |

On the afternoon of May 24th, XJ Delegation of State Development and Investment Corporation(SDIC), also the Hami Energy Development Co.,Ltd. under SDIC was set up in Urumqi.Wang Lequan, member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, secretary of CPC XJ Committee attended the shingle unveiling ceremony and met with Wang Huisheng, party secretary and president of SDIC and his group before the ceremony. Nuer Baikeli and other leaders of XJ and XJPCC attended the meeting and the ceremony. SDIC is one of the backbone central enterprises invested and controlled by the state. It signed a frame cooperation agreement with XJ in Nov.2004. By the end of 2008, SDIC has accumulatively invested over 3.4 bln Yuan in XJ. |

On the morning of May 20th, XJ held the commending conference for the excellent returned overseas scholars. Wang Lequan, member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, secretary of CPC XJ Committee pointed out that, XJ should take attracting and using the talent of returned overseas scholars as the main task in implementing the strategy of strengthening XJ with talented people, and encourage them to make more contribution to the reform and opening up, as well as modernization in XJ. This year, XJ will award the excellent returned overseas and advanced units with 1.8 mln yuan. Nuer Baikeli, deputy secretary of CPC XJ Committee, chairman of XJ Uygur Autonomous Region presided the conference. |
